Bailey says city is in ‘great shape’

Mike Bailey is Bartlesville’s new city manager. He was appointed to the position by the Bartlesville City Council on July 9, with an effective date of Aug. 1, to replace Ed Gordon, who retired after a 27-year career with the city of Bartlesville — 12 years as city manager.
Bailey is a Bartlesville native and graduate of Bartlesville High School. After college and a career across Oklahoma, he returned to Bartlesville with his wife, and they began their family here. Bailey served as an independent auditor and accountant for several municipal governments. Thirteen years ago, he accepted a position with the city of Bartlesville as the finance director.
Over time, Bailey’s job title changed and responsibilities increased. He was the city’s chief financial officer, treasurer, city clerk and assistant city manager. In October 2017, Bailey stepped up as acting city manager following Gordon being impacted by life-threatening illnesses. Bailey continued in that position after Gordon returned on a part-time basis until Gordon made the decision to retire.
